Even though this was day two of our adventure, it was actually our first full day in NYC! We were so excited to get out and explore the city and surprisingly our Itinerary for the day was planned perfectly.
NYC TV & Movie Bus Tour
As a treat on our very first day in New York, The School of Media organised for all students to take a trip on the TV and Movie Bus Tour around the city. This showcased the most iconic locations in NYC as seen in popular TV and Films. Such as, Friends, Gossip Girl, Home Alone and many more.
To begin, we all met at the meeting point which was Ellens Stardust Diner in Times Square. On the bus we had the funniest tour guide talking us through the iconic TV and Movie locations, followed by clips of the scenes on the TV screens. He really engaged with us students, and BCU even taught him a thing or two about our English 'slang'.
Our first stop where we got off the bus was Washington Square Park, this was iconic of the TV show Glee. This was a really fun stop as we got to see and photograph a famous New York Landmark and we also had the opportunity to take a group photo in front of the Arch.
Secondly, we stopped off in The West Village where we got to see the Friends building. This was SUPER ICONIC as pretty much everyone has seen this building in the TV show.
Overall, the TV and Movie Bus Tour lasted approximately 2 hours long and was the perfect way to kick start our morning in the Big Apple and to top it off, the sun was shining! Which fitted our plans perfectly as Jarlies' second adventure was to visit The Top Of The Rock.
The Top Of The Rock
As we have both been to New York before, we both decided we would only go to the top of one skyscraper and luckily we both agreed our favourite was The Top Of The Rock, simply because you have the best view of The Empire State Building! Prior to the trip, we pre booked our tickets at around £30, which allowed us to show our tickets upon arrival and go straight through to security and then finally to the 67th floor. As you can see below, the lift is pretty exciting...
We spent around 45 minutes at The Top Of The Rock indulging the mesmerising scenery from the 3 observation decks and utilised the opportunity to get some fabulous content.
and lets not forget, of course we had to get a classic window picture...
Rockefeller Plaza
As you will see on out 'Eat' page, we spent quite a lot of time at The Rockefeller Centre and on the ground floor, they have a very nice food court that had plenty of options to chose from. Also, located at The Rockefeller Plaza are the NBC Studios and there are also some designer shops, F.A.O Schwarz toy shop and the only Nintendo store in the world.
We then spent the evening at Times Square, where we dined at Planet Hollywood before heading back to the Hostel, so we were ready for our next early start at The View.
